New Delhi: At the prestigious "National Highways Excellence Awards (NHEA) 2022," Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, underscored the significance of work distribution and decentralization of power in achieving success across all endeavours. The event, themed "Excellence in Project Management and Road Safety," celebrated the remarkable pace of road, tunnel, and bridge construction, marking a source of pride for the nation.

Gadkari attributed road infrastructure development to collective team efforts, stressing the need to prioritize cost reduction and construction quality while advocating for the protection and preservation of the environment. He commended the contractors, engineers, and consultants awarded for their exceptional contributions to road safety and national development.

Acknowledging industry challenges such as increasing black spots and pollution, Gadkari urged stakeholders to exercise caution and diligence. Minister of State, General (Rtd.) Dr. V K Singh expressed gratitude to the jury and optimism for a future with reduced road accidents through improved signage adoption.

Secretary Anurag Jain emphasized the shared responsibility of engineers and stakeholders in identifying and rectifying black spots while emphasizing the importance of construction quality and timely project completion.

The "National Highways Excellence Awards (NHEA)" initiative, launched by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in 2018, aims to incentivize and foster healthy competitiveness among stakeholders in highway construction and maintenance.

The event saw the participation of top officials from MoRTH, NHAI, NHIDCL, and various stakeholders, including concessionaires, developers, contractors, academicians, and NGO representatives. Panel discussions, chaired by senior officials and sector experts, highlighted exceptional achievements in project management, operations, maintenance, highway safety, green highways, and innovation.
